Second set of templates?

Hello,

i currently have a set of Mon-Fri templates for regular school days.  How can I creat a second set of Mon-Fri templates for early release days (i/2 days)?

Thanks!

There are a couple of different ways to handle this.

Copy Your Existing Templates

If your current Mon-Fri templates are a close match for the early release days, then we want to copy your existing templates.  Here's how to do that.

Go to the Calendar and choose to start a new lesson plan, pick your Monday Template as the Template you want to start with. Revise the Lesson Plan you just created to match your Monday Early Release Schedule.  Once you get it looking like you want, choose to set it as a Template.  Give it a Name such as "Monday Early Release".

Do the same for each day of the week.

However, if your Early Release schedule is the same on every day of the week, you may just want to create a single Template called "Early Release Day" and then use it for each day you are released early.  This all depends on how your schedule looks on Early Release days.

Create a New Template

If your early release days template is different enough from your existing templates, then you may want to make a new early release day lesson plan from scratch.  Once you get that created, then if ALL your release days follow the same pattern, then you are done.  You don't necessarily need to create Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday templates if all you need is an "Early Release Day" template.

However, if your early release is different on Mondays than it is on Tuesdays and each day of the week has a much different looking schedule, then you may want to go ahead and copy that first Early Release lesson plan.  The easiest way to copy the lesson plans is to go to the Calendar and then flip the toggle at the top of the screen to "Copy" mode and then drag+drop the lesson plans onto the different days you need.

Finally, once you have all your lesson plans created, you can click into each of them and set each one as a "Template".  Be sure to give them a descriptive Title so you can tell them apart from your current Templates.

Tip: Make sure you set Template Status once you are completely done creating and copying your lesson plans.  Once you set Template status, we lock those lessons so they can't be copied/moved.

Tip: We recommend you create your Templates on dates that are outside your typical lesson planning year.  Pick a date in the summer.  You don't want to confuse your templates for actual lesson plans.

Tip: Your list of existing Templates can be found on the Manage Templates page.
